Lesson 1.3 Dimensional Analysis Application of Significant Figures and Exponential Notations

Dimentional Analysis, Significant Figures, Exponential Notation(Scientific Notation)

Dimensional analysis (also called the factor-label method or unit conversion method) is a mathematical technique used to convert between different units by using conversion factors. It ensures that calculations are consistent with the correct units.

Significant figures (sig figs) refer to the meaningful digits in a number that contribute to its precision. They help maintain accuracy in scientific measurements and calculations.

Exponential notation (or scientific notation) is a way of expressing very large or very small numbers using powers of 10. It makes calculations easier and ensures proper use of significant figures.
